Idaho Governor signs Bill to thwart one particular candidate

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Ballot Access News

On April 11, Idaho Governor Butch Otter signed S.1514. It takes effect immediately. It says that if someone changes his name and then runs for office, the ballot will list both the candidate’s new name and the old name. The bill was introduced because Marvin Richardson had changed his name last year to [...]

I’M BACK!

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Greetings,

I’ve successfully completed my move to Nevada.
Besides getting involved with the IAP; finding a cheap place to live, and the social conditions in the state of California were the main factors in deciding on moving out of that state. I’m already registered with the Independent American Party itself and plan on attending many upcoming meetings [...]

Facebook offers wide variety of third party options

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

It used to be that one had the option of entering his or her political ideology (i.e. conservative, libertarian, progressive) in a Facebook profile. That option no longer exists, but one can now enter their respective political party affiliation—and there is an extensive list of parties from which one can choose. From the [...]

Stephen Colbert - You’re on Notice!

Friday, March 7th, 2008

This is perhaps more of a rant than news, but bear with me. October 20th I took some official campaign pictures of Socialist Party nominees Brian Moore and Stewart Alexander soon after they were nominated to be the ticket: the first official campaign photos. Sadly, I parted with my Wriststrong Wristband; handing it [...]

Subscribe to Ballot Access News

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

I don’t often directly ask for money for organizations in a blog entry on this site, but I’ve decided to make an exception in this case. I’ll highly recommend subscribing (it’s only $14) to Ballot Access News. It’s a great source of information not only about ballot access issues, but it also contains [...]

More on Poetry

Friday, February 8th, 2008

While I’m on the subject of poetry, let me share a few leftwing poems of mine.

Unconditional

Tears stream down her cheek,
the Tigris and Euphrates flood her face.
The anguish burns her soul
as her heart drowns in emotion.
Her son has died,
his body recovered,
but she cannot see it.
The cops, nay vigilantes
hunted him down.
He was wanted.
This man had his cause
to [...]

The History of Communication

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I received a comment that made me feel I should post this. It’s a poem I wrote about using huge and obscure words. The general consensus I have gotten from it is that you don’t care too much if you don’t bother to translate it. But if you get a dictionary out and translate your way through, you will love it. And the moral, think audience.

Iowa Caucus Results Open Thread

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

I’ll be at a political event tonight but I’m sure many of you will be discussing Iowa caucus results, so I thought this open thread might be helpful. Also, I’ll get the comments by e-mail on my cell phone, so I’ll have something to occupy my mind should the meeting be less than exciting [...]

Redpath Lobbed Soft Questions in Recent Interview

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Libertarian National Committee Chairman Bill Redpath is certainly accustomed to the media. I can also understand why some people might choose to not participate on hardball programs like Bill O’Reilly or Michael Medved. However, Redpath’s lastest interview was about as soft (and furry) as it gets. Redpath was interviewed by two long-eared furry [...]

An Example of Why CNN Sucks…

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

This is just a painful to watch segment. The College Republican tries to speak up for Ron Paul and the anchor says he doesn’t have a chance. The College Democrat can barely hear the guy’s sarcastic questioning of her.

Just a totally pointless timewaster because they don’t have any real news to talk about…

[...]

Participate in a mock Primary Election

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

If any here are interested, especially if you want to support Ron Paul, irregardless, David Leip is having a mock Primary Election for the Republican and Democratic candidates on his website.
You have to register with the website to vote in either Primary. And yes, you can be in any political party to vote in either [...]

Some Third Party Fun

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Since we generally get so serious about politics on this site, I thought it might be time to open up a thread with a less somber tone. I just wrote a posting about today’s GOP debate which I titled Snuffleupagous, eight Big Birds and a Congressman from Texas. Within a few minutes of hitting [...]

The Onion: “Remember the Reform Party?”

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

A very funny, if recycled, piece from this week’s issue of The Onion…

Republicans, Democrats Unite In Good Laugh Over Reform Party

WASHINGTON, DC—In a rare moment of bipartisan unity, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle fondly recalled the Reform Party Tuesday. “Remember ‘Ross For Boss’?” Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN) said, laughing uncontrollably at the memory [...]

A Little Side Project…

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Just wanted to “give a shout out” err… a plug… to a side project that myself and a few friends have started. It’s a multi-author, multi-topic blog called Mondito that has a much lighter tone than most of the other stuff I’ve been involved in. Kind of a mixture of talk about politics, [...]

Bob Barr: Then and Now

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

A negative ad that hits Congressman Bob Barr for his stance against the use of medical-marijuana…

And four years later, Bob Barr joins the party and addresses the national convention….

An Annoyingly Stupid YouTube Video

Monday, May 14th, 2007

These clowns appear to be under the impression that the Libertarian Party is basically a gay rights isolationist group that favors hunting and killing illegal aliens. Might be nice if a few people left comments on the YouTube site correcting the creators of this stupid garbage…

Freedom to Fascism on YouTube

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Someone has uploaded Aaron Russo’s movie to YouTube in five parts…

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5

I’m sure this is probably a copyright violation and the videos will likely get pulled after a little while, but I thought I’d share the links anyway.

I watched about 10 minutes from different parts, and personally, [...]

My Introduction

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Greetings. I’m Anthony Distler, the newest contributor to ThirdPartyWatch.com. I’m new to some of the codings they use here at TPW, but I’ll eventually get the hang of it. I’m a member of the Pennsylvania Reform Party. I fall to the left on some issues and to the right on others. I’m going to be [...]

Thank you, internets.

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

For all you fellow third-party aficionados out there, a happy happy piece of satire from the November elections.

Just a bit of humor…

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

The Onion has a hilarious piece up about third-party cola manufacturers.

Claiming the American consumer is in crisis, third-party soft drink Royal Crown Cola called for an end to two-brand dominance, demanding an equal playing field for all and urging sweeping restrictions on the amount Coke and Pepsi are allowed to spend on advertisements.

“Over the past [...]

The Return of HoT? The Launch of LibertyMix?

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

What’s that you say?

So maybe finally, after a long awaited period of time… could it be? Maybe Hammer of Truth is back and LibertyMix is finally launched?

I get a little clock counting down to 7:00 AM Eastern Time…

Now I’ve never jumped in this fight because I didn’t invest any money and to be [...]

TPW Mentioned in the Northwest Herald

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

I was quoted briefly in the Sunday edition of the Northwest Herald, the article is available online here.

Although obviously Richard Winger is the actual scholarly expert on all of the ballot access and historical matters, it’s always cool when this blog get some “real media” attention. And a hearty welcome to any new readers [...]

Totally Off Topic: Funny Music Video

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Absolutely nothing to do with third party politics. Well, ok… maybe it is an accurate description of some candidates… but seriously. I didn’t mean that. Don’t kill me.

I just felt sharing this video for a laugh…
