South Carolina: Many third-party supporters backing Democrat for U.S. Senate

It’s a weird situation in South Carolina. The state’s Republican Senator, Lindsey Graham, is up for reelection and is considered all but unbeatable. The Democrats wrote off the race, allowing an unabashed conservative, Bob Conley, to grab their nomination. Now, when Conley speaks, the cars carrying his supporters to the speech sport bumper stickers for Ron Paul, Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin…anyone but McCain or Obama.

WRAL.com in Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville gave this background for Bob Conley:

He once ran as a Republican for an Indiana state House seat, then bolted for the Reform Party. After moving to North Myrtle Beach, he joined his local GOP committee and backed Ron Paul in this year’s South Carolina presidential primary. Five months later, he won a lackluster contest to become the Democratic pick to face powerhouse Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham in November.

Sites like Right Democrat like Conley, and state Democratic Party officials seem annoyed by this gnat on their ticket, who won’t publicly endorse Obama (he says his dream ticket would have Pat Buchanan running with him in that presidential slot). But nobody’s expecting an upset on Election Day: Conley ended his primary campaign with $3,692 debt and $983 cash on hand, while Graham has $3.6 million to spend.

    Bob Conley has my vote..

Insider Lindsay Graham doesn’t care what SC wants..he is just a go-along, get-along Bush hug up..I don’t know how many times I have written Lindsay Graham and all I get is a auto-generated response. No concideration on alternitive views of we the people. He has no vision of his own, just the Bush doctrine…the quo’.

Look at what is happening to us! Every issue is a crisis and Graham, with Bush, and McCain thinks all is well…Sure, the hug-ups are doing well, so, what do we matter?..

    ENOUGH
