Zogby: Barr has critical impact in battleground states

Zogby’s Electoral College map now gives Obama 260 electoral votes (no longer a clear majority), McCain 173, and 105 Electoral College votes in 12 states that Zogby considers too close to call. Zogby adds:

The changes are the conclusions of a Zogby International analysis of new Zogby interactive polling in 10 battleground states conducted August 15-19, 2008, as well other reputable polling, and other political factors.

The Zogby figures also show the critical impact of Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr in the battleground states. Some examples:

Colorado: Obama 44, McCain 38, Barr 8, Nader 2, not sure/other 8.

Nevada: Obama 39, McCain 38, Barr 10, Nader 3, not sure/other 10.

New Hampshire: Obama 38, McCain 42, Barr 11, Nader 1, not sure/other 9.

Ohio: Obama 41, McCain 36, Barr 8, Nader 1, not sure/other 13.

Virginia: Obama 43, McCain 41, Barr 5, Nader 1, not sure/other 10.

Amazing, and then there is PA also, that may well be a close race, where Ron Paul attracted 16% of the GOP primary vote, thus could mean 5-8% for Barr with a bit for Baldwin as well.

  2. NewFederalist Says:

Assuming either of them are actually on the ballot in PA!

  3. Sean Scallon Says:

At some point McCain will either have to take Bob Barr seriously or lose the election if these poll numbers keep up. Better treat those Ron Paul delegates in St. Paul with some respect or wind up in worse shape.

  4. Craig Says:

I believe the Nevada numbers. Colorado and New Hampshire look a little high, but Barr could have an impact. Forget Ohio and Virginia—Barr will barely register there.

Wait a sec, didn’t the New Hampshire LP have somebody else on their ballot, and the Barr people are trying to sue to get his name on?

Hey jerk off, what is YOUR horse doing? Still got his nose up Ron’s ARSE, tryin’ ta get Ron’s supporters to endorse a stupid THEOCRACY?! At least OUR guy is making some damn progress where the votes are…the middle, not the right.

http://www.electoral-vote.com/ has a much more comprehensive analysis of the races, including the House and Senate as well. In 2006 they were 91% accurate in their calls. If they have any faults it is that they tend to ignore third parties, but considering the usually abysmal showings, that’s not surprising.
