Nader submits petitions in Tennessee

The Tennessean reports:

The Nader campaign submitted 584 signatures; the candidate needs 275 verified signatures to secure a spot. To make his spot official, election officials will send the petitions to be certified in counties where they were collected.

The Barr campaign has not petitioned to be on the Tennessee ballot. The only two parties certified in the state on a standing basis are the Democratic and Republican parties.

While Nader was the first presidential candidate to petition a spot in the fall, others have picked up petitions and have until Aug. 21 to submit them, said Brook Thompson, the state election coordinator.
