Scott Adler, an associate professor of political science at the University of Colorado, thinks that Bob Barr’s impact will be minimal in November. Many voters who like a third-party candidate still find it hard “to pull the lever, or punch the ticket, or push the button” for fear of throwing their vote away, he says.
The Colorado Independent quotes Adler: “Whether or not that will be the case with Barr is yet to be seen, but it’s something that has to be considered.”
But Colorado Libertarian Party Director Travis Nicks is optimistic. “The national convention was here in Colorado and the state party is pushing Bob Barr quite hard,” he says. “We are receiving much warmer support for Bob Barr than we have [for other candidates] in the past.”
