More Baldwin media

Matthew Robert’s is talking about possibly going “constitutional” over at Taki. He introduces Chuck Baldwin in this manner:

Now that Ron Paul is effectively out of the race, there may again be a candidate for paleoconservatives (notwithstanding Gottfried’s obituary) to support. For those of you unfamiliar with Baldwin, he’s a pastor at the Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, former activist in the Moral Majority (who since has repudiated the Religious Right’s groveling for crumbs before the GOP), a radio personality, and a columnist, whose pieces regularly appear at VDare and numerous other sites. He is sound on immigration, sound on trade, and sound on the war.

He also provides an argument for voting third party:

Unless another, more electable third-party candidate steps forward (like Lou Dobbs), Baldwin may be one’s best bet for two reasons. First, voting for a minor third-party candidate sends a better message than abstaining or voting for a Leftist like Barack Obama (who’s hostile towards working-class Anglo-European Americans, wrong on immigration, dishonest about trade, and probably will start a war in Darfur), which would be interpreted as a general shift of the “conservative” electorate to the multicultural Left.

Too bad Taki never realized that A) Paul is not out yet, and B) The LP nominates next month.

  2. Rob Says:

True, the LP convention next month will look like a major party event compared to the few hundred people that gathered in Kansas City last weekend.

It will garner FAR more media attention, esp. if Barr can pull a win.

  3. John Lowell Says:

Couldn’t find the Baldwin related material at Taki’s. Too many Francoists blocking the way.

  4. Trent Hill Says:

    Rob,

Im not sure what you’re expecting at the LP convention—-but its only going to be “a few hundred” too. On Saturday, there were just over 300 attendees at the convention. I suspect the LP will double that number.

I think that Roberts should apologize to God for his remarks about God’s messinger Barack H. Obama, yet I know that if Roberts does help Baldwin he will help bring Obama to power, unless the Bush/Nader/Clinton conspiracy denies Obama the Dem nomination.

    Rob,

Barr has yet to announce an out-and-out candidacy, continues to pussy-foot. At least Keyes wanted the CP nomination. Barr acts as though the Libertarian nod might laced with arsenic. At first I liked the idea of a Barr nomination, now so much so because of this tentativeness.

  7. Trent Hill Says:

    John Lowell,

Barr is a member of the LP and has been for 2 years. Keyes NEVER was,and was open about the fact that he WOULD NOT JOIN OR STAY unless he recieved the nomination. Almost all of his followers felt similarly.

Even if Bob Barr (or anyone else) gets the LP nomination, “they” will be saddled with the LP’s platform on “open borders” and “legalizing drugs” which does NOT sit too well with the average man or woman voter on the street in America. But the CP’s platform DOES represent the feelings of the average on the street voter. It is all about getting the CP message out to the mass voters. Ron Paul showed just how the internet can work for campaigns. Hopefully, it will rub off on the CP.
The CP welcomes debate from ALL political parties! We in the CP will match our platform against ANY other political party, major or third party.
