What do I have to do to get some coverage of the New American Independent Party on this site??

    www.newamericanindependent.com

  2. Cody Quirk Says:

Any Press releases or actual news articles on your Party at all?

  3. Gary Odom Says:

Not stealing our name would be a good start.

  4. matt Says:

    As a side note:

I hope the IAP does awesome and that their event is a big success, but do you have any idea how much non-Christians are creeped out by the term “fellowship”?

  5. Cody Quirk Says:

Think of ‘fellowship’ in a J.R. Tolken kind of sense:)

  6. Michael Says:

    Cody,

Sure we have news and hold events, etc.

    Gary,

I can assure you that nobody stole your name.

  7. Trent Hill Says:

    Michael,

    American Independant Party.
    New American Independant Party.

    Yep,completely original.

  8. Michael Says:

The New American Independent Party was chosen out of a hand full of names. We were seeking a name that fit us well being independents seeking to build some organization. None of the founders had ever heard of the American Independent Party before we chose our name, as most of the American people haven’t. The New American Independent Party was created by independents who had previously had no political experience. So, please do not assume that the American Independent Party is somehow widely recognized by the average joe on the street. Believe me, we do wish that the names weren’t so similar. We have found that within the state of California that it does hurt our recruiting when people think that we are the American Independent Party or that we are associated with them.

  9. Trent Hill Says:

    Sorry bud, no can do.

This would be like if I named my party the “New Green Party”.

    OBVIOUSLY a ripoff.

  10. Michael Says:

Well, Trent I am truly sorry that you are angered so much by this. But, the fact of the matter is that you will have to get used to it.

I would suggest and encourage you to channel that energy towards building the American Independent Party or whatever party you belong to. Turn this negative energy into something positive. Let this “light a fire” underneath the American Independent Party towards making concrete gains. By all means, use this injustice to motivate you.

The approval ratings for the President, the Congress, the Democratic and Republican parties have been hovering around historic lows for quite some time now. Yet, look at the position of America’s third parties.

Sure voter registration is up in third parties. But, the fact of the matter is that third party efforts are not nearly making the impact that we need to be making.

Now, you can cry and complain that we stole your name. You can make excuses about the nation’s unfair ballot access laws (they are quite unfair) all that you want. You can blame the media and the debate commissions. You can blame the big money special interests. You can even blame it on Astrology if you like. Indeed, some or all of these are very real obstacles and should not be taken lightly. However, it is time for third parties in this country to begin to take responsibility for our failings. The number #1 factor holding us all back is not all the obstacles that I listed above. It is ourselves. The bottom line is that we are getting our butts kicked every election, except for some rare exceptions.

Our nation is in crisis. Our people need us to get our act together! So, please excuse me if I get tired of hearing all of the excuses about why we are all living in 2%-5% land.

I understand that we are the new kids on the block. We are inexperienced in this as well. I do not and will not claim to have all of the answers. In fact, I will openly admit that all of the other third parties know more about elections than I do. I will not even claim that our party is better than other parties. Our efforts may crash and burn just like so many others have. Building a real third party force in this nation is quite a difficult task. It takes time and an incredible effort. I thank God for Richard Winger and our very small ballot access committee. The system is not fair.

However, if we do fail, I can promise you this - the NAIP will take full responsibility for that failure. It is not the ballot access laws, the media, money, the name, etc. that ultimately caused that failure. It would be because we simply did not get the job done. We have to overcome ourselves before we can overcome the “unfair system”.

I want an America that has many strong parties. The NAIP is not threatened by any other third parties. Because our success or failure is not dependent upon other parties or how low the approval ratings are for the big two corporate owned parties. We control our own destiny.

  11. Cody Quirk Says:

Ever considered changing the name, Mike?

Or it may be better if you guys went with the Independence Party instead.

  12. Cody Quirk Says:

None of the founders had ever heard of the American Independent Party before we chose our name

=Then why ‘New’ American Independent Party? It strangely sounds like the founders were well aware of the AIP, yet added ‘New’ to the title. Otherwise there would’ve been a copyright infringement here.

  13. Michael Says:

Before our party turned into a political party we were a small group of researchers. We were researching a group called the neo-conservatives. This was years before 9/11. We were the only ones warning about the neo-cons and the Project for A New American Century.

We had a small newsletter called the New American Independent. We just kept the name of the newsletter for our party. We believed that America was about to enter into a new time or a new phase if you will. That is why we used the word New. We were Americans fighting for what we believed to be the survivial of America. That is why we used the word American. And I, along with most of the others were registered Independents. That is why the word Independent was included.

If you doubt any of the above information, then ask the FBI.

The NAIP was to be a no party as party. A party in which independents could still maintain much of their independence. Our party’s framework was heavily influence by the martial arts philosophy of Jeet Kune Do. A philosophy put together by Bruce Lee.

I was not involved with politics. I voted for independents, but not third parties. Just a few years ago, If you asked me about third parties I would have told you that I heard about the Green Party, the Reform Party and the Libertarian Party. Although I didn’t really know much about what the Libertarian Party was about. But, no one else.

It is easy for folks inside of third party movements to think that folks have heard of them. But, the sad fact is that 95% of the people out there have never heard about 95% of America’s third parties.

I don’t know what else to say. But, again we sure as hell did not set out to use a name similar to anyone elses.

We hold both liberal and conservative views. We are not apart of another larger party or a extreme ideology trying to pretend that we are independents, so that we can attract folks that think that they are signing up as independents. We tell our folks that we are independent minded, but that we are not the same as being independent. Even though I, and most of us are still registered as independent or non-partisan, depending upon the state. It is difficult is put a label on us that fits correctly. We are somewhat of a hybrid. Changing times require changing solutions.

How “independent” is the American Independent Party? Or the Independent American Party?

Please do not assume that folks have heard of you. Because 99% of the country has not. I can assure you of that. Too many third party activists and leaders are out of touch or living in their own third party bubble. They need a dose of reality. I do not mean to be rude, but thus far we have failed. It is time to stop making excuses for the failures outside of ourselves.

If the American Independent Party, the Independent American Party or anyone else is doing so well and has so many new registered voters, then why would they be worried about the name of our small, new party?

If another party wants to add our name selection as another excuse as to why they received 2% - 5% of the votes, then more power to them. They can waste time and money taking us to court to fight over the name if they want. That would provide even more excuses. So if we assist anyone by providing them with more excuses then great. But, the reality is that our name selection is not going to make any negative difference on any other party or their candidates. If people confuse us somehow, then it will more than likely help these other similar sounding parties.

This is America. We are still a “can do” nation, despite all of the defeatist attitudes. If other similar sounding named parties would have done more “do” then we would have heard of them long ago.

How “independent” is the American Independent Party? Or the Independent American Party?

=Both the California and the Nevada parties were named as such when they were formed. And while it’s true Californians know little of the AIP, the IAP frequently is in the news in Nevada and is growing in numbers.

=The issue isn’t whether you’re going to take away votes from us, but whether there is some copyright infringement here, since the AIP name and logo are copyrighted.

We hold both liberal and conservative views.

=Sounds like a copy of the Independence Party to me.

  15. Yosemite1967 Says:

Did I read that right? A party based on the philosophies of Bruce Lee and that holds both liberal and conservative views at the same time? Wow. That’s all I can say is…wow. Is someone pulling our leg here?
