Today’s Candidate: David Horn

FRIDAY MARCH 17th, 2006

Today’s candidate of the day is David Horn for U.S. Congress.

Horn is a computer programmer and the Constitution Party’s candidate for Congress in Michigan CD-7. This will be his second run for the seat as he was also the party’s nominee in 2004.

What I found somewhat interesting about Horn is that his 2004 showing was the best for any third party Congressional candidate in Michigan. In a 5-way race he received 3% of the vote, more than double the Green candidate and triple the Libertarian candidate. In Hillsdale county, Horn actually polled 8% of the vote… not a bad showing and suggesting that if he were to run for a local office he might fare even better.

As far as I know, Horn seems to be a pretty nice guy. His website isn’t crappy either. It’s actually not bad, it’s not so cluttered. I haven’t read his commentaries except for his stances on the issues. Those don’t seem to come across as whiny or complaining or excessive blaining on the Republicans or the I’m smarter than you are so vote for me tone. I think David could win a local race or at least get a decent percentage for Congress.

He is, however a little critical of his Republican opponent.

David Horn is a bit of an odd duck. I met him at a campaign event and he seemed very nervous around women. I think he’s either closeted or a virgin… He seems scared most of the time. Strange guy…
