Today’s Candidate: Carole Keeton Strayhorn

Today’s candidate of the day is Carole Keeton Strayhorn for Governor of Texas.

Strayhorn is a former moderate Republican that has decided to run for governor as an independent rather than face a tough conservative-leaning GOP primary. She’s currently the state’s Comptroller and certainly seems like the most likely to be elected independent or third party candidate at the gubernatorial level in 2006. Recent fundraising reports show current governor Rick Perry with about $11.5 million in cash, but Strayhorn is not far behind with $8 million. None of the Democrats have raised more a quarter of a million.

Another interesting item to note is that Strayhorn’s youngest son, Scott McClellan, is President Bush’s Press Secretary.

I have PERSONAL, experience with EXACTLY how corrupt this bitch is! She is evil incarnate. She travels around with media operatives posing as her staff in the Comptrollers office, and uses her media connections to slander her opponents. I have friends who have been the victim of her selfish ruthlessness. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t help her.

If you want an independant candidate for Texas Governor, go with KINKY!

Strayhorn does have an independent voice within the Republican party, but in my opinion has only declared as an independent as a matter of political convenience, ie to keep from getting horribly spanked in the Republican primary against Gov. Perry. Kinky is the true independent.

  3. Austin Cassidy Says:

Well, she’s become the highest ranking non Republican or Democrat in any state-wide position anywhere in the country.

My feeling is that she’s an independent in the same way Bernie Sanders and Jim Jeffords are independents. They’re really kind of Democrats, but they have kind of an independent streak running through them…

  4. IndiPol Says:

So has Strayhorn renounced her Republican party affiliation completely and she is now a “independent” State Comptroller or has she simply declared herself as an independent candidate for governor? Like Russell Potts in Virginia who remained a Republican State Senator.

  5. Rock Howard Says:

Strayhorn still calls herself a Republican.

Interestingly Strayhorn and incumbent Governor Rick Perry were both Democrats in the early parts of their political careers and switched over around the time that Texas turned into a red state.

  6. Austin Cassidy Says:

She’s listed as an independent by Politics1 in her cabinet post. I think the GOP leadership is also beyond furious at her, so… I don’t know if there’s a real answer to that. I have herd her call herself a Republican since the split though.

There are only a few politicians out there with whom I have had personal experience of corruption. She is one. In fact, I am prepared to testify to the State Legislature about it, and have called her in to the DHS in relation to her improper manipulation of media agents.

It doesn’t matter what she’s running as…she is self-serving. There’s a reason that her son is Bush’s mouthpiece. She is part of old school Texas family connected corruption. She can run as an independant because she is that connected. Don’t support her.

Russ Potts is now a Pariah in Virginia, becuse they blame Jerry’s loss on him.
