Kinky Hits The Jackpot

Kinky Friedman, independent candidate for Texas governor, won $45,612 last weekend while playing a slot machine at Harrah’s in New Orleans.

Friedman hasn’t decided what to do with his casino winnings.

He said through his spokeswoman that he may give it to his campaign fund or donate it to a charity or to the “leprosy colony for unwed mothers in Hawaii.”

I wish America were more like Germany when it comes to elections. These are the results of the latest poll:

CDU/CSU-44% (sister parties in different states, like the Dem. Party/DFL Party) (Conservative, Opposition)

    SPD-28% (Social Democratic, Goverment)

    Green-8% (Green, Government)

FDP-8% (Liberal, Opposition, only opposition party that has traditionally made coalitions with the CDU/CSU)

    PDS-5% (Socialist, Opposition)

    The Left-5% (Neo-Liberal, not yet in Bundestag(parlament) )

    Others-2%

That’s an interesting poll… does it mean that CDU/CSU is tied with SPD, because the SPD gets Green and FDP support as well? I don’t really understand German politics that well.

  3. Centrist Chris Says:

And once again I would like to remind people that I have updated the American Reform Party page in the Encyclopedia.

  4. Centrist Chris Says:

No, the FDP sides with the CDU/CSU.

  5. Centrist Chris Says:

Because the FDP really is a centrist party, dispite their nickname, “the Liberals”

  6. Centrist Chris Says:

However, you can count the PDS and The Left as definate coalition partners with the SPD and the Green Party should they fail to hold a majority themselves and can achieve it by taking them in to the government. But right now, it appears that the Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU) and the FDP will have a majority when elections are held next month.

Gotcha, I misread some the labels. :)

Thanks Austin for making the ARP page look better.
