Green Appointed to City Council

A Green was appointed to serve out the remainder of a term on the city council of West Reading, PA. He will very likely be re-elected in the Fall to a full term as he has the nomination of all parties:

“I’m honored to be selected to serve the residents of West Reading,” said Morrill. “I’m even more honored to be selected as a representative of the Green Party. This may be the first time in the nation that a Green was chosen to fill an unexpired elected seat. I intend to return the honor by using the Ten Key Values of the Green Party as the basis for my service.”

Morrill’s term expires at the end of this year. He is running for a full term and will appear on November’s ballot as a Green. He will also appear on the Democratic and Republican tickets, having won both parties’ nominations by write-in in the May primary.

“This may be the first time in the nation that a Green was chosen to fill an unexpired elected seat.” This might be something worth looking in to. If so, then he deserves a bit more respect than one who usually fills in a vacant seat. Additionally, if he performs his duties well and is re-elected, that would be another good notch on the Green’s belt for elected offices held.
