Several Items of Note…

Likely Minnesota Independence Party candidate for Governor, Peter Hutchinson, is attracting some very good press as Republicans and Democrats engage in a lose-lose stand-off. Could we see another IP governor come 2006? Hutchinson certainly has the resume to be a credible candidate… he’s held numerous positions including deputy mayor of Minneapolis, State Finance Commissioner, and Minneapolis school superintendent.

Libertarian Party Chairman Michael Dixon has posted this statement on the LP’s official blog.

Large numbers of Christian families are re-locating to South Carolina as part of something called Christian Exodus. Many within the Constitution Party have been cooperative with (or involved in) this effort. The project is very much like the Free State Project, which seeks to move libertarian-minded folk to New Hampshire in large numbers.

I have problems with the Christian Exodus and the Free State Project. There was a spokesman for the Christian Exodus on tv the other day, and he said they want to move to a state where the majority shares their ideals. The interviewer asked him why they wouldn’t move to a state where the majority didn’t share their views and try to ‘change’ them. The guy had no answer. As far as the Free State group . . . I can tell them where to go. ;) Seriously though, both groups are flawed. I live here (in my state) because of the job and the climate, not the politics. To move to another state just because they share my views is very illogical.

I am very dissapointed that the Governor and Legislature won’t come to an agreement. I liked Ventura a lot and I think that Huchinson can be just as good, or maybe even better, than him.
