Dickinson Launches St. Paul Mayoral Campaign

Well-known environmental activist Elizabeth Dickinson today launched her Green Party bid to become the next mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota.

From The Star-Tribune:

Dickinson quit her job as a lobbyist for the Minnesota AIDS Project on Friday so she could devote all of her time to campaigning. She also will step down as co-chair of the Green Party so she can seek its endorsement.

Dickinson is a well-known environmentalist who led a coalition that successfully pushed Xcel Energy to convert from coal to gas at two of its plants.

As mayor, Dickinson said she would lead the effort to make St. Paul a national leader in sustainable and renewable energy as well as environmentally friendly building standards. Dickinson said her priority would be to create “a more collaborative spirit” between the mayor, City Council and neighborhoods.
