Constitution Party’s Baldwin Blasts (Laura) Bush

Laura Bush’s recent comical performance at the White House Correspondents’ dinner got generally positive reviews in the major media. Liberals and conservatives alike seemed to have been charmed by the First Lady, but not included in the group cheering her on is Chuck Baldwin.

Baldwin was the Constitution Party’s 2004 Vice-Presidential nominee. In a recent article posted on, he writes:

The occasion was the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington, D.C. In a scripted “interruption” of the President’s remarks, Laura began by comparing herself to the sleazy characters of the television sitcom, Desperate Housewives. She said, “Ladies and gentlemen, I am a desperate housewife. I mean, if those women on that show think they are desperate, they ought to be with George.” Her remarks only went downhill from there.

Michael Peroutka also wrote about this subject. Peroutka was the presidential nominee on the Constitution Party’s ticket in 2004 (and Baldwin was the vice presidential nominee). If anybody’d like to read Peroutka’s article, which was titled “Mrs. Bush’s Remarks To Washington Press Corps Embarrassing, Lacking In Discernment,” just click on
